Curriculum vitae

Flavia Caroni is a Ph.D. student and assistant at the Chair for Democracy and Public Governance of Prof. Dr. Daniel Kübler. In her dissertation project, she researches strategies and activities of organizers of citizen’s initiatives in Switzerland, relying on a comparative case study. She is interested in direct democracy, Swiss politics, questions of democracy, and qualitative research methods, as well as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on democracy in Switzerland. Besides her research, Flavia Caroni is teaching a tutorial in the framework of the BA lecture “Systems and Theories of Political Science”. She is also assisting with the lecture “Introduction to Swiss Politics” by Prof. Dr. Daniel Kübler. In previous semesters, she autonomously taught a BA module on citizen’s initiatives from an international perspective.

Flavia Caroni studied Political Science, Social Sciences, Economics, and Business Administration in Bern and Bologna from 2011 to 2017. Her master thesis covered the implementation of Swiss constitutional initiatives following their approval at the ballot. Besides her studies, she worked at the University of Bern’s Année Politique Suisse for several years, where she was the author of the chapter on social security.
