Curriculum vitae

Gerlinde Theunissen is joining the research area of Political Sociology for the spring and summer of 2024. She is an Independent Doctoral Researcher at the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” and the department of Politics and Public Administration at the University Konstanz. Her research focuses on political behavior and political sociology with a focus on neighborhoods, social groups, and contextual effects on opinions and participation in the Global South. Methodologically, she makes use of geographic and spatial data and analyses in combination with survey and administrative data. Her dissertation project looks at local exposures to inequality and the effects of social comparisons on political perceptions and voter turnout. She is an alumnus of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Public Policy, Political Economy, and Development from the IBEI Institute in Barcelona and the International Institute of Social Studies of the University of Rotterdam, and earned her BA in P olitics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz.
