Graduation ceremony 2023

For the first time, the IPZ graduation ceremony took place on September 28, 2023, in the UZH main building. Nearly 300 guests celebrated the successful completion of Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral theses in the academic year 2022/2023.

In her welcome address, Departmental Director Prof. Dr. Silja Häusermann introduced the new IPZ graduate brochure (PDF, 3 MB)(German only) and highlighted the department's recent achievements in teaching and research.

This year's keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Francis Cheneval on the topic: 'Is it reasonable to be optimistic?' Following the speech, prizes were awarded for the best theses at all three levels. Traditionally, the prize for the best Master's thesis was sponsored by the Zurich Political Science Association (VZP).

The winners of the year 2023 are Lea Sandoz-Mey (BA, 'Accessibility and political participation of people with disabilities in Swiss parties'), Fabienne Eisenring (MA, 'Who will benefit? Expectations about the future, perceived distributive policy effects, and their impact on voters' social policy priorities'), and Dr. Magdalena Breyer (PhD, 'Social Status Politics: The Role of Shifting Cultural Hierarchies').

The subsequent reception in the Lichthof became an unforgettable evening for the community of graduates, supervisors, professors, and staff of the IPZ, as well as for all accompanying parents, friends, and relatives.

We congratulate all graduates of the IPZ on their successful completion and wish them all the best in their future professional and personal endeavors.
