The Doctoral Program of Democracy Studies (DPDS) provides an intensive multidisciplinary training in theoretical and empirical democracy research. It is open to doctoral candidates in political science, media and communication science and political philosophy.
The DPDS builds upon solid conceptual and institutional grounds established by the NCCR Democracy. It aims at academic excellence in terms of early scientific independence, international visibility and intellectual networking.
The DPDS combines in a form of structured freedom the advantages of standardized and apprenticeship models, a format highly appreciated by former program participants and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
