Thomas Reiss studied political science and geography at the University of Zurich from 2012 to 2018 and has worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Democracy Studies Aarau (ZDA) and as a tutor for applied statistics and international relations. After his studies he collaborated on the Survey "Security 2019" at the Military Academy (MILAC) at ETH Zurich, focusing on foreign and security policy. He joins the research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Widmer as a PhD student as of September 2019 on the basis of a project that is located within the National Research Programme (NPR) 76 "Welfare and Coercion". More specifically, the project aims at examining the effects of institutional settings, financing systems and implementation policies on child placements. The focus of his dissertation will be on cantonal differences in welfare economics and pratices in the field of child placement policies.
