Curriculum vitae
Sarah Engler is a guest professor at the Department of Political Science and the Centre for Democracy Studies Aarau (ZDA), University of Zurich. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bern, where she examined how party strategies determine the survival of centrist anti-establishment parties. The thesis was awarded the Best Dissertation Prize (2018/2019) by the Swiss Political Science Association. During her PhD, she was also a visiting researcher at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. Her research focuses on post-communist democracies, European party systems, democratic performance and corruption, and the political consequences of social inequality.
