Oliver Dlabac joined the Centre for Democracy Studies (ZDA, University of Zurich) in October 2013. He leads the research group on local democracy and is a lecturer with a special focus on decentralization and local democracy. Dlabac studied political science, economics and social psychology at the Universities of Zurich and Prague. He earned his PhD at the University of Berne with a thesis on the democratic options and democratic challenges faced by the cantons at the Swiss subnational level. For the academic year 2012-13 he was awarded a SNF Postdoc scholarship which he spent at the University of British Columbia. For the years 2017-2020 he was granted an SNSF research grant for an international research project titled "The democratic foundations of the Just City".
