Hauke Licht is PhD candidate in Prof. Tarik Abou-Chadi's research group on Direct Democracy and Political Participation based at the IPZ and the Center for Democracy Studies Aarau. His dissertation research focuses on on political actors' communication and campaigning strategies, populist communication, and political behavior on Web 2.0 platforms.
He obtained his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology from Humboldt University Berlin and studied in the joint master's program International Relations of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Potsdam, attaining his degree in April 2018. During his master studies, he spent a year at the Department of Political Science at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Moreover, he worked as research assistant in a project on electoral vulnerability and policy recalibration based at the Humboldt University Berlin, and as a data analyst in political campaigning during the German federal election campaign in 2017.
