Linus Westheuser is a postdoctoral researcher under the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship program, working with the research team on "Social Identities and Social Structure in 21st Century Electoral Politics" at IPZ. Linus is interested in the pre-political roots of cleavage transformation. In his PhD at Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, he studied social identities, moral economies, and political habitus among production workers and sociocultural professionals in Germany. His postdoctoral work will center on conceptualizing the place of identity processes in cleavage transformation (in collaboration with Delia Zollinger), and on the sociopolitical consequences of moral distinctions of deservingness. He received his MA from Humboldt-University Berlin and was a visiting researcher at the LSE's International Inequalities Institute. He will be at the IPZ from September 2021 to March 2022.
