Michael Pinggera is a PhD student at the chair for Swiss Politics and Comparative Political Economy. He studied political science and economics at the University of Zurich (2012-2017) and has worked as a research assistant between 2015 and 2017. His dissertation is part of the ERC-funded "welfarepriorities"-project under the lead of Prof. Silja Häusermann. The dissertation analyses today's welfare state politics with a focus on the politics of social investment. More specifically, Michael is interested in the determinants of social investment priorities as well as in their implications for partisan welfare politics.
