Natalia Lisenkova obtained her Bachelor degree in Asian History and the Chinese language from the Far Eastern State University, Vladivostok, in 1995, and worked for a year at the Russian Academy of Science. After doing non-degree studies in Chinese politics at Liaoning University in China and at Taipei National Political University in Taiwan, she worked for the Moscow-Taipei Coordination Commission. In 1997 she won a Tetley and Lupton scholarship and did her MA in Asia Pacific Studies and then a PhD in Chinese Politics at Leeds University in the UK. Prior to taking her current position at the Institute of Political Science in 2008, she also worked for different consultancies and private banks in the UK and Switzerland. She speaks Russian, Chinese, English, Italian and Mongolian.
